Information for Zoo Run Run 2012 Participants – Please Read!

The Headlines (more details appear below):

  • Early bib number/TShirt pickup times: Thursday, January 19 & Friday, January 20 at Nashville Zoo
    11 a.m. – 1 p.m. & 4 – 6:30 p.m. on both days
  • Check-in on Saturday begins at 1:30 p.m. The front gates to the Zoo close at 2:40 p.m. for the safety of our runners. There will be lots of traffic so don’t wait too late to head to the Zoo.
  • Costume Contest! Register with our Party Patrol DJ prior to the race to enter the costume contest. Winners and prizes will be announced during the Awards Ceremony.
  • Spectators – There are 2 areas for spectators – one at the start/finish and one about ¾ through the race route, accessible through the Croft Center building.
  • Race starts at 3 p.m. – we look forward to seeing you!

The Zoo Run Run will take place rain, shine or snow. Because the race is limited to a certain number of participants, no refunds or exchanges are available. If you choose not to run, your participation donation will be a tax deductible donation to the Zoo.

The Zoo closes to the public at 1 p.m. and remains closed to prepare the route until race start at 3 p.m. Runners and spectators are not allowed on the zoo trails prior to, during or after the race.

Pick Up Your Bib Number/TShirt EARLY!
THURSDAY, January 19, 2012 & FRIDAY, January 20, 2012:
11 a.m. – 1 p.m. & 4 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. (materials not available outside of these times).

Location: Nashville Zoo's Croft Center Administrative Offices
Directions to the Croft Center: Park in the Zoo's main lot and look for the two large white marble tiger statues & 'Welcome Zoo Runners' signage. Enter here. This is also the general area where the race will begin.

We strongly encourage you to participate in early packet pick-up. Beat the race day crowds by getting the following items the day before the race:

  • Race number (your bib will be your ticket for dinner at post-event celebration)
  • T-shirt
  • Please bring identification to be matched up with your race number
  • We do allow registrants to pick up materials for a friend or family member.

If you registered for Champion Chip Timing, those devices will be available on Saturday with the Nashville Striders.

SATURDAY!

  • Check-in will begin at 1:30 pm on Saturday.
  • Main gates to the Zoo parking lot will be closed at 2:40 pm on race day in order to prepare the route. Please arrive early to give yourself enough time to park, check-in and line up at the starting line for the 3pm start.
  • Please bring identification to be matched with your bib number.
  • Have friends running too? CARPOOL, if you can. Parking is limited.
  • Food and drinks for runners will be served from inside the Croft Center.
  • Awards ceremony will begin approximately at 4:30 pm in the Croft Center amphitheatre.
  • If you picked up your bib number/t-shirt early, please do not forget your materials. Additional items will not be available for replacement.
  • Strollers with all-terrain wheels are strongly recommended!
  • The run course takes you on some gravel paths, dirt roads and narrow paved pathways. Enjoy your adventure!

It's a ZOO! Fun, animal-themed attire is always ENCOURAGED at all Nashville Zoo-sanctioned events. Long tails, however, are discouraged
due to the running nature of this race.
