Planned Giving

In addition to providing for your family and others, your will can offer a way to make an investment in the future of Nashville Zoo. All gifts are welcome, and can help ensure the success of this organization for generations to come.

A gift made through a will can be convenient to arrange. A simple provision or amendment prepared by your attorney at the time you make or update your will is all that is necessary. Gifts through wills are popular because they may be changed with your life circumstances, they are flexible, and easy to arrange.

Ways to support Nashville Zoo through your will include:

  • Make a gift of a specific dollar amount.
  • Provide for a gift of specific property. Real estate, stocks, and other items of value are examples of properties we can receive as charitable bequests.
  • Designate that a percentage of your estate be given through your will.
  • Bequeath the residue of your estate – or the portion that remains after all other bequests to friends and loved ones are satisfied.
  • Name Nashville Zoo as a contingent bequest, in the event other heirs are not available to receive their legacy.

To plan a charitable bequest, inform your attorney of your wishes and ask for advice regarding the best form for your gift. There is no limit on amounts deductible from federal gift and estate taxes for charitable gifts made by will, so no tax will be due on assets given in this way.
We value your membership and support, and hope that you will consider including Nashville Zoo in your estate plans. If you have already done so, we invite you to let us know. Please contact Suzanne Iler, Chief Development Officer, at 833-1534, Ext. 128, or .
