Docents are a dedicated group of volunteers committed to educating the public about the Zoo's animals as well as conservation and wildlife issues. A docent's primary focus is interacting with and educating Zoo visitors using biofacts and other educational tools.

To become a Nashville Zoo docent, you must volunteer a minimum of 70 hours, pay a one time fee of $70 (includes uniform and training materials) and attend at least four of the six docent training classes.

For more information, contact Chris Radek, manager of onsite interpretation, at or (615) 833-1534 ext. 146.

The Docent application process has closed for the 2014.
