Besides roaming our trails, grabbing a bite to eat, embarking on a guided tour, taking a spin on the carousel, feeding the lorikeets, and petting the goats - we have a variety of keeper talks and animal feedings scheduled weekly.
Here you will find our daily schedule of activities. Scheduled events and activities are subject to change, so please be sure to check the schedules prior to your visit.
Cape porcupines are the largest porcupines and one of the largest rodents in the world. Despite popular belief, porcupines cannot shoot their quills. When threatened porcupines will raise their quills to appear larger. If that does not work they will stomp their feet, click their teeth, and rattle their quills. As a last resort, they will ram a predator with their quills, causing them to be lodged in the skin of the predator.
