**Giveaway available only while supplies last.**
Starting January 16, Nashville Zoo will be handing out free packets of sunflower seeds provided by Tractor Supply Company. Each guest to the Zoo will receive one pack containing about 50 seeds until all 2,500 packets are gone. There is no purchase necessary to receive the seeds.
"Tractor Supply is happy to help bring a little joy to our neighbors in 2021 by partnering with the Zoo and giving away sunflower seeds," said Chip Chiappetta, Senior Buyer for Tractor Supply. "We see firsthand the reward and satisfaction that comes from working the land, and we are passionate about sharing that gift with others. We hope these sunflower seeds will be a great addition to an existing garden or a fun way for someone to start their gardening journey"
Nashville Zoo and Tractor Supply encourage guests to plant sunflowers in early Spring and include them in sunny areas of gardens and flower beds. Gardeners should follow individual seed packets for specific directions on where and when to plant.
"Not only are sunflowers a joy to look at, but they also have many benefits for people and the environment," said David Farrow, Nashville Zoo's Horticulture Manager. "Sunflowers provide nectar and pollen for insects, seeds for many animals, and oil for humans. They also pull toxins out of the soil and can provide shade for sun-sensitive vegetables."
